Contrary to popular belief, skate blades are not flat with two sharp edges or knife-like in appearance. In reality, they possess a thickness of approximately 3mm. The sharpening process involves a fast-spinning, rounded stone that expertly carves a groove along the length of the blade, creating what is known as a "hollow."
