Twins Talk With Olive and June

In anticipation of the Kids’ Opening Day on April 23, 2017, the Minnesota Twins held a video essay contest asking kids to tell them why they’d like to participate in it. My daughters, Olive and June, baseball fanatics, built a kid-sized cardboard studio in our basement, filmed a talk show, and made a few edits. I may have helped.

Not only did my daughter Olive win a spot to participate in Kids Opening Day, the Minnesota Twins contacted me to see if they could use the video we made to promote the event on their social channels. They posted it on their Facebook and Twitter pages. It received over 60,000 views on Facebook.

After the first pitch was thrown out, the Minnesota Twins also played the video on the jumbo-tron to kick off Kids Opening Day. Olive was also a prominent feature on the Minnesota Twins Snapchat as she stood with the players during the National Anthem, was featured on the jumbo-tron, and finally got to run the bases at the end of the game.
